Passion turned to profit for Portia Ophelia Cannon in early 2000 when she became publicist for a struggling self-published author. While still working a day job Portia became so proficient at the publicity game she quickly added three new clients within a few short weeks and A.N. Experience, Inc., a public relations firm, began to take form.
After twenty years of computer technology and a Masters Degree in Computer Science her primary hobby of reading turned into a business of marketing and managing creative artists. A.N. Experience, Inc., which started in January 1998 as a computer consulting company with emphasis on software development, became a very promising public relations firms and agency for the up and coming.
As President and Chief Operating Officer, Ms. Cannon overseed the representation of some of the most talented authors, speakers and musicians in the industry.
In the summer of 2000, SKAN Incorpated purchased A.N. Experience Inc. and Miss Cannon narrowed her scope to literary agent to concentrate on helping all her clients reach their goal of mainstream publishing. Her first client Parry Ebony Satin Brown, a best selling author with Random House has eight works published. She represents multiple best selling authors, teacher, a Ph.D.'s, as well as first time writers. Included in this impressive list is her gifted nineteen-year-old daughter, a published poet.
As a new player in the entertainment arena herself, Portia believes budding artists deserve top shelf representation with a personal touch. If being a literary agent wasn't keeping her plate full, Portia Ophelia Cannon is producing her first film, "The Champion Inside," www.thechampioninsidemovie.com via her company A P in A Pod production. With all of this and balancing single parenthood she still finds time to read a book on top of manuscripts weekly.
